As a tech enthusiast, I’ve always been interested in advances in technology that can a) make aspects of my personal and professional life more efficient and easier, and b) overall benefit society.
genAI does neither of this.
As an innovative technology, genAI (and AI in general) could greatly benefit society if steered in a meaningful way, but currently AI’s direction and guidance has been mostly leveraged by individuals and organizations that prioritize profits and power grab over the good of society and every-day people. AI also has little or no restrictions to its usage which has and continues to create real harm to our world – environmentally due to the increasingly aggressive energy usage, societally due to people losing their jobs and livelihood in favor of AI replacements, and culturally due to marginalizing the importance of meticulous craftsmanship and expertise over algorithmic AI slop.
I created Sonic Bayou Hosting LLC to flip that script – to stand firm in my belief that investment in the arts is not simply about the art itself but also the people behind it and that is more important to prioritize that over maximizing profits. Therefore, while WordPress and plugins for WordPress do have options for genAI-assisted content creation, I pledge that Sonic Bayou Hosting LLC will never deliberately make use of AI tools as a substitute for handcrafted content creation for our services. Furthermore, Sonic Bayou Hosting LLC pledges to not use any AI for tools related to the business itself, including but not limited to asset creation, invoice creation, support ticket resolution, or site maintenance.
